We had our third meeting today.  The kids were taught how to use the ultrasonic sensor and allowed to work on their robots.  As well the VP of Julie Payette came in and had a look at our progress.  We have plans of teaching autocad and of course everything the NXT has to offer.

On our fourth meeting we decided to challenge the kids.  We set up an obstacle course using paper towel rolls and retord stands from the science lab.  The kids had 30 minutes to plan build and code the robots to navigate the course and drop a ball in a specific spot at the end of the course.  It was a lot of fun and very exciting.  We have made plans for future challenges such as putting a ball over a wall.  As well we took a vote to see if the kids would like to do NXT sumo bots.  They vote passed and it will be the last challenge we put to the kids.

Today we let the kids work on their own challenge, which failed.  Afterwards we decided to have them code the robot to tap SOS as well as throwing a ball in a cup.

Riley I hope you're teaching the kids to program with Java

It is the greatest most capable programming language out there

My sun glitched across the screen when we were doing picture things. It glitched.

At Julie Payette this week we gave them the day to work on a display and work on their final sumo bots.  This week we had Sam come in and take pictures of the kids in action!  Lots of fun, can't wait to see what they come up with next week in the grand finale.  Come January we will have a whole new batch of kids and hopefully they will be as good as the ones now.

Today was our last day  Crying or Very sad   But we had lots of fun along the way and got to show the parents what the kids can do.  We had the final sumobot matches and team No Name won 7 to 0.  (team no name had some help)  Its been fun and I can't wait to see what the kids will do in January.

Today we got the kids to do a obstacle course with their robots.  Team Reese won.  Looking for ideas on next time.  Anyone got any ideas please post.  Please keep it simple though.
