Possible List of Charities for Support

Post  Maya Deen on Tue Nov 12, 2013 9:08 pm

Hey guys,
The Philippines is going through a massive crisis right now. Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan hit on Nov 8 and caused extreme damage, and if you've been listening to any of the news you'll have heard that the death toll is estimated to be over 10,000 now. I've hardly heard anything at school, but I think we should come together and post an emergency one week relief aid fundraiser of some sort.
Let me know what you think, the feasibility of this and ideas for what we should do.

I've got no idea where to even start with organizing one of these kinds of efforts. right after MacMillan's I don't think anyone wants to do much in-depth fundraising. However, I bet we could figure something out regarding getting it out to the school and collecting donations somehow.

I agree with Sam. It is too early after Macmillans to do direct fundraising. However having the team lead a fundraising program would be an amazing way to help out. I know that Mr. Edwards works with international projects like this. We could contact him, I know that he could atleast help us with this.

Guys it could be as simple as a morning announcement and then sitting outside the caf to collect donations. I don't want to go after people and hassle them for money. We did a shoe drive for hurricane sandy and only 285 people died. The biggest thing I remember for New York was that they had to close the subway down and evacuated parts of the city.
