Back Roll Pick Up
It was decided on Sat. that a second roll is needed.
I have some ideas on how we can better funnel the ball to the middle.
Can you post your ideas please.
Keep it simple and realistic.
We also might need much more reduction in the raising and lowering of the rear roll assembly.
Post ideas here please.

Re-robot design spitballing
I'm not entirely clear on the specifications of the rear loader but would it be possible to bolt in two pieces of bent PVC on either side to channel the ball towards the centre of the assembly.

RE: robot design spitballing
There are actually already two pieces of aluminium welded on at an angle to channel basketballs to the centre
The main concern is that there is the possibility that, when on carpet, the friction would be enough so that those pieces of aluminum
end up forcing the balls down rather than to the middle...
As far as looking at other teams robots it seems we'll have more trouble than anticipated in trying to find what we need
Most of the teams that had a pickup mechanism that goes over the bumper used it to pull balls up over their bumper, not under their
bumper like we are
Then there are teams (eg 610) who had some sort of part that comes down and 'traps' the balls in front of their pick up, but didn't
actually do any funneling or anything with motors

back roller
Another possbility is to wrap some of the grip tape (the same as on the other rolls) in a spiral to funnel the ball towards the middle.

Back roll pickup
Ken your back roll pickup has problems.
Funneling the ball is harder then you thought.
Becase we are using our assembly to push down the ramp the deflection plates after the first roll can not be below the middle of the ball height.
The ball does not want to go to the middle.
If you look at 1114's there deflection system is low because of a different way to lower the ramp.

Re: Back Roll Pick Up
Was the finger idea implemented? Adding something similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja4uZ0Fxe-M
except shaped like 2 cones tapering towards the centre
