2014 - 2015 Corporate Sponsorship

Corporate Sponsorship involves each team member handing out Sponsorship packages (available electronically or provided hard copy) to corporations, in order to obtain funds for the team. It is not an optional activity.

It differs from Fundraising in that the amounts donated are larger and solicitation may be done with the support of parents/guardians approaching businesses where they have personal contacts, or students approaching businesses they choose who may have an interest in sponsoring a robotics team. Companies sponsoring the Sprockets receive exposure through their logo on the robot, announcement of their company name as a sponsor during competitions, etc.

Fundraising, by comparison, is usually undertaken by students and usually involves selling product (such as Macmillans), bottle drives, in-school specialty food sale days, etc.

Fundraising is directly linked with the student participation fee (see post on fundraising for more details).

Jane, can you please tell those of us not so tech-savvy folks how to access an online copy of the sponsorship forms please. I have a couple of contacts that I want to try via email and I would love to attach the flyers. Thanks.

Good morning! The edocuments are in the Sprockets Dropbox, and all students can log on to obtain access to larger Sprockets documents such as the sponsorship package (if a student reading this doesn't know...ask a senior team member! This will be especially vital in January during Build, when many robot design options may be posted in the Dropbox).

Login instructions are also posted in the General Information section of the Forum, in the heading called "Dropbox".

Alternatively, I'm happy to email the soft copy to anyone who requests it!

Since I don't see the thread for our 3 sponsorship package submissions, here's my three.

1. Morrison Hershfield (Engineering company, gave us the laptop last year and $500 in 2012)
2. Carpet One Oshawa (Should be giving us a 10' by 20' spread of practice carpet for free)
3. The Rick and Rose Hassall foundation for kids who know how to robot good

Thanks, Sam, I'm happy to see a student taking the initiative on corporate sponsorship for this year!  I will create a thread for sponsorship handouts, if all students could post the companies they have contacted.

Sorry everyone, HP might be able to sponsor us. Nov. 5 I will be visiting the Canadian headquarters for HP, sponsorship package will be given then.

I have approached my uncle's convenience store, sadly he said that he will not be able to sponsor us. I will follow-up later.

HP will sadly not be able to donate anything due to a project which all extra resources and funds are pooled towards. No follow-up is possible.
