2016 Season Build Shift Food
Good morning, all!
Happy Build Season!
I am posting this message here and also via email to parents and students:
Our ravenous Build and Specialty students, teachers and mentors will need food during Build season weekends. If able to do so, it is hoped that families will sign up for a Saturday or Sunday date to bring in a meal for them.
Students will be working 9-1 and 1-5 every weekend until Feb. 15. Families usually bring in food around 12:45 so that both shifts can eat a healthy, hot meal around shift change, but you could also bring in food twice, once during morning shift and once during afternoon shift. Students will eat depending on their workload; they may all sit down together, but more likely is that they will graze throughout their shift as tasks permit.
Traditional items include pasta, slow-cooker items (chili, etc), sandwich trays, casseroles, etc. There is an outlet in the shop to plug in a slow-cooker, but no access to ovens, microwaves, stoves etc. There is a refrigerator. You will need to bring in plates, cups, utensils, napkins, etc as there are none available. Please remember to bring something to drink (I find two cases of pop or the equivalent and one of water are usually enough), and remember that a number of our students are vegetarians. Average number of students is 10 for the full day, plus at least two teachers and a varying number of mentors and Specialty students also there...plan on food for 15 or so for the full day.
The Robofood schedule will be updated on the Forum for student access, and via email to parents.
