Well now we have confirmation that belts work with frisbees, even with belts only on the bottom. Currently inventor-ing a proto.

im not so sure that piece of plastic would work
itd get pushed against the fibres of the carpet whenever we'd move for a pickup, and the robot will doing with more force over a longer distance than a persons hand

I I didn't like the dustpan-style leading edge either. too much room for error. Like will suggested, two small wheels to kick the frisbee up into the conveyors, located just off the ground, but far enough that they don't touch the ground, until the leading-edge design would need to.

Ground Pickup Empty Dust pan pickup over rolls

Post  David Smith Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:47 pm

With two rolls on the side you have to be very exact as to hitting the friz
If you have a dust pan style you could have a wide dustpan with a sponge style roll in front a funnel on sides like out 2012 bot that feeds belts

Ground Pickup Empty Yes step it up but lets not close the doors

Post  David Smith Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:44 am

We actually have not discussed anything that challenging yet to build.

Design yes build no.

We also have more then 8 weeks to build.
We can make parts after the build period that could be added at the compitition.

3 competitions is a lot of test time to get it right.

At this time we are in the design stage.

Lets keep all options open and see what we come up with in the next 5 days and then decide what can be done and then decide how to proceed.
